Rodger Cunningham was appointed as Station Manager. He in turn hired new graduate Amiria Wepa as Marketing Manager.
Together they introduced a bunch of initiatives including opening the station’s production facilities up to community groups for recording projects.
However, the most noticeable change is out on the airwaves: Pumanawa FM is gone and Te Arawa FM is on.
Cunningham instigated a rebrand which means a fresh sound for the station. Stings now regularly boast iwi affiliation, and a new talkback show hosted by Member of Parliament and Te Arawa local Te Ururoa Flavell boosts the amount of korero heard on air.
Check out the new Te Arawa FM via irirangi.net or in Rotorua on 89FM.
